Harvey Elliott nets from 25 yards as Tyler Morton makes debut for England U21s

Harvey Elliott continued his impressive form on the international stage with a 3-0 win over Serbia U21s, again hitting the target with a superb strike for England U21s.

Elliott captained the Young Lions in their 3-2 defeat to Ukraine last month and said winning the belt for the first time since opening was a “dream come true”. He had two goals and two assists in two games during the October international break and continued that streak by getting on the scoreboard Saturday night.England U21s continued their excellent start to the European Under-21 Championship Group C qualifiers by taking an early lead after 20 minutes thanks to a brace from James McAtee.

Elliott stole the show by latching on to a clever pass from Chelsea winger Noni Madueke and slotting home from 25 yards to secure all three points for his country.The 20-year-old has been a central midfielder for England since playing on the right wing when he captained the side against Ukraine last month.

Despite showing promise when given the opportunity in a Liverpool shirt, he has managed just 90 minutes as he has been limited to substitute appearances for the Reds this season.Lee Carsley has now led the U21s to three straight wins and his side will be looking for direction to give them the chance to defend the European U21 Championship crown they won this summer. The former Everton midfielder is set to return to Goodison Park on Tuesday to continue qualifying with a home game against Northern Ireland.

Elliott will be hoping to continue his impressive form after breaking into the Carsley squad, marking his 17th international appearance at U21 level.

He wasn’t the only Liverpool player. Jarell Quanza and Tyler Morton both came off the bench to score goals in the second half.Kwansa makes his second appearance for England U21s after making his debut in the come-from-behind match when England beat Serbia U21s 9-1 last October. Morton made his first appearance for Carsley’s side after making three appearances for England U20s despite missing the Italy U21s and Germany U21s in September.

The 21-year-old was on hold during the previous international break but has recently earned a full squad call-up thanks to his impressive loan spell at Hull.
