His equalizer came in the 66th minute when he beat several Montenegrin defenders and fired into the far corner in a superb individual effort. It didn’t take long for the Hungary captain to put his side ahead, Soboslay equalizing after a one-two with striker Martin Adam.
Adam Nagy’s late comeback capped the win after goalkeeper Predrag Mijatovic denied him a hat-trick in Liverpool’s eighth stoppage time.Mathematically, Montenegro has been disqualified from Euro 2024, while Hungary remain unbeaten with five wins and three draws.
As skipper Soboslay celebrated his country’s qualification for a third consecutive European Championship, the stadium celebrated with, of course, a glass of traditional Hungarian palinka! He’ll be back at Anfield next week to prepare for the big game at Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, so hopefully he won’t be throwing too many shots after the game! The privateer cruiserweight will be looking to continue his impressive form into the 2023/24 season, with the 23-year-old getting off to a good start on Merseyside.
