Mateo Kovacic has been ruled out of Manchester City’s game against Liverpool this weekend. The Athletic’s Sol Lee reported that the Croatian could be out for two to three weeks with a “recurrence of a quadriceps injury”. According to the Premier League, the 29-year-old’s injury list includes Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, Nathan Ake, Sergio Gomes, John Stones and Mathieu Nunes.
Liverpool had their own problems, though not to the same extent. Stefan Vaicetic did not fully return due to fitness problems following an adductor problem he suffered last season. And main driver Thiago Alcantara has not been at the club since April. Andy Robertson’s absence in the Etihad decider will of course be missed. But hopefully Jurgen Klopp can get a big result in Manchester and win outright in Caudu from 12.30.
