The 49ers are favorites to win the Super Bowl. Something really weird would have to happen for them to fail this season. Here are three surprising things that could happen for the 49ers
.1. Injury The 49ers have the oldest quarterback team in the NFL and have played a lot over the last three seasons and will likely have more to come. Will I be able to stay relatively healthy? There have been a number of injuries to key players this week, but as long as Brock Purdy, Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Ayuk, George Kittle, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner are healthy, they should be fine.
2. Steve Wilkes After the Bye Week, Wilkes found great success as a defensive back that required aggressive press coverage. Will he continue to be aggressive in the playoffs? Or will Kirk Cousins and Joe Burrow return to the soft zone coverage they broke in October after making a big move down the field? Wilkes must remain aggressive even when the stakes are high.
Three. Kyle Shanahan I feel like I trust Brock Purdy now, but I think I’ll trust Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2019 regular season. When Garoppolo threw an interception in the divisional playoffs against the Vikings, Shanahan lost his trust in Garoppolo and took the game out of the fight. . He relied on his arm and fast attack. If Shanahan catches Purdy in the playoffs or gives up an interception, will he do the same to Purdy? Will Shanahan Purdy keep cooking or will Shanahan start running? Shanahan has to trust his quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
