Often included in lists of so-called athletes who “won” Cleveland. Now it’s time to rank David Njoku.Njoku, who represented the Browns in the Pro Bowl, quickly stopped a punt by Cowboys’ Micah Parsons against Cleveland during a Madden showdown over the weekend. “He made it clear why Cleveland is Cleveland, and we…” Parsons began before Njoku interjected.”Oh, wow, wow!” he answered. “You have to understand one thing: They say, ‘Cleveland is Cleveland,’ but we’re both here.” We both play Madden. “You have to make it meaningful.”Later, Njoku’s teammate, Dolphins tight end Tyreek Hill, backed him up, adding, “He’s making a good point. We’re all in this together.”Njoku’s relationship with Cleveland and its fans has come a long way since he asked to be traded out of town in 2020.Before Week 4 this year, two days after suffering burns to his hands and face in a house fire, Njoku went out and led the team to a win over Baltimore. Late in the season, the former first-round pick told Inside NFL that he played with stitches in his leg during a Week 16 win over the Bears after hitting a home run.
He had a career-high 10 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown.
