Former teammate discusses Patriots failing Mac Jones

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Meyers has New England Patriots quarterback Mack Jones as a teammate through the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

That means Meyers knows a lot about what happened to Jones during his second pro campaign of the appellant.”We’ve seen the path Mack’s been taking for years, and you could see it a few years ago and say it’s going to end badly,” Myers recently told NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry.

NESN’s Adam London shared: “I don’t like to pick on people, but I think I should have met that person more. Because I know that person works in that building. I can’t tell you who works harder than him. I really hate seeing that person.

It really is.”Myers isn’t the first to say former Patriots coach Bill Belichick retired Jones, a 2021 first-round pick after he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie under then-offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

After McDaniels’ departure, Jones returned for the 2022 season, working with assistants Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, and Belichick later retired the 25-year-old four games last season.Jones has a “clean slate” with new head coach Jerod Mayo, but the Patriots are believed to be trying to get compensation for the quarterback’s services before or after this year’s draft.

Meyers said he wants the Patriots to do more to “help” Jones after McDaniels becomes the Raiders’ head coach in early 2022.”Just like coaching, talent can be attributed to anything,” Meyers explained. “If they can put him in a better position to win, I think it will help their program a lot.”Mayo acknowledged last month that Jones has received “a lot of criticism” for going from a QB1 to someone who could soon compete for a roster spot, going from a QB1 to a playoff team in January 2022.

Meyers and others have argued that Jones deserves better in recent years, but it appears the former Alabama Crimson Tide star and the Patriots will have to agree to part ways sooner rather than later.
