In a heartfelt revelation, Green Bay Packers veteran offensive lineman David Bakhtiari opened up about a terrifying injury he suffered earlier in his career, one that he says nearly cost him his life. Speaking on a recent podcast, Bakhtiari detailed the harrowing experience, which stemmed from complications following surgery to repair a torn ACL in 2021.
“I woke up one night struggling to breathe, and my chest felt like it was on fire,” Bakhtiari recalled. “I had developed a severe blood clot that could have killed me if I hadn’t gotten to the hospital in time. It was one of the scariest moments of my life.”
The Packers star admitted that the ordeal forced him to reevaluate his career and personal priorities. Despite making a full recovery and returning to the field, Bakhtiari noted the mental toll the experience took. “Every time I stepped on the field after that, I couldn’t help but think about how close I came to not being here.”
Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson recently commented on Bakhtiari’s story, calling it a reminder of how dangerous the game of football can be. “You hear about injuries all the time, but something like this really puts it into perspective. We’re all grateful he made it through,” Hutchinson said during a press conference.
Bakhtiari’s bravery in sharing his story has earned praise from fans and players alike, reminding the NFL community of the unseen risks players face beyond the game.
