Cleveland Loses Veteran DT Amid Tough Season

The Cleveland Browns have placed starting defensive tackle Shelby Harris on injured reserve due to an elbow injury sustained in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on December 15. Harris, who had started 13 of the 14 games he played this season, recorded 37 tackles, 1.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. The 33-year-old veteran has played 10 seasons in the NFL with teams including the Raiders, Broncos, Seahawks, and Browns, amassing 326 career tackles and 27.5 sacks.

The Browns, currently 3-12, will host the Miami Dolphins (7-8) this Sunday before concluding their season against the Baltimore Ravens. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who aggravated a calf injury in last week’s 24-6 loss to the Bengals, is expected to start, according to offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Thompson-Robinson has struggled this season, going 1-3 as a starter with 697 passing yards, one touchdown, and nine interceptions.

To address roster needs, the Browns elevated wide receiver and punt returner James Proche II from the practice squad and signed defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour to the practice squad. Proche, 28, has three receptions for 21 yards and averages 9.1 yards on 18 punt returns this season. Dwumfour, 26, has previous NFL experience with the Texans and 49ers, contributing 13 total tackles in 12 career games.
