End For Dan Moore:Steelers Makes Bold Moves for Elite $53 Million Offensive Tackle

The Pittsburgh Steelers, currently 10-6 and heading to the AFC playoffs, have had a solid 2024 season, but they are facing challenges after three straight losses, including a Christmas Day defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs. As they prepare for their Week 18 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers are looking to improve their offense, which has struggled recently.

A key issue has been the performance of left tackle Dan Moore Jr. After a strong start to the season, Moore has given up four sacks and 12 quarterback pressures in his last four games. With Moore set to hit free agency this offseason, the Steelers are unlikely to bring him back, especially after investing first-round picks in offensive tackles Broderick Jones (2023) and Troy Fautanu (2024).

While the Steelers have young talent at tackle, Steelers Wire’s Curt Popejoy suggests the team should target Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Cam Robinson in 2025 free agency. Robinson, who was traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Vikings in October, is praised as an elite pass protector and a potential upgrade over Moore.

Robinson has had an up-and-down season, allowing two sacks and 20 quarterback pressures in eight games with the Vikings, bringing his total sack count to six for the year. If the Steelers sign Robinson, it could mean a shift in their tackle situation, with the veteran potentially replacing Broderick Jones, who has struggled in his second season with ten sacks and 40 quarterback pressures. Despite a strong showing against the Chiefs in Week 17, Jones has not lived up to expectations this year.

Adding Robinson would strengthen the Steelers’ offensive line but could signal the end of Jones’ future as a starter in Pittsburgh.
