Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has faced multiple fines and suspensions throughout his career, including three fines in 2024 alone. Williams, who entered the league recovering from an ACL tear suffered at Alabama, has seen his career marred by disciplinary issues.
This year, Williams was fined $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct against Seattle, $19,697 for making an obscene gesture against Jacksonville, and most recently $11,255 for taunting Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson in Week 16.
Williams’ troubles date back to 2023, when he was one of four Lions players suspended for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. He missed six games for betting on a college football game while traveling with the team, though the suspension was later reduced to four games. That suspension alone cost him nearly $500,000.
Adding to his 2024 fines, Williams served a two-game suspension for violating the league’s Performance-Enhancing Substances policy, forfeiting $210,270 in salary. In total, the 23-year-old receiver has lost $754,863 in fines and suspensions during his three-year NFL career, according to Spotrac.
