Former Green Bay Packers superstar Aaron Rodgers has sparked speculation about his future as the 2024 NFL season draws to a close. Currently with the New York Jets, Rodgers has faced increasing retirement questions over the past year, and the team’s struggles this season have intensified the uncertainty.
The Jets, sitting at 4-12 ahead of their Week 18 finale, have endured a tough season. With Rodgers under contract for 2025, it remains unclear if the franchise wants to bring back the 41-year-old quarterback or if Rodgers himself is ready to continue his career.
Rodgers recently addressed the situation, speaking candidly about his perspective. In comments shared by ESPN’s Rich Cimini, he expressed gratitude for his long NFL journey while hinting at possible changes ahead.
“This game has given me a lot, and I’ve given a lot back to it. I’m thankful for it,” Rodgers said. “I won’t be thinking about [retirement] on game day; I’ll just be enjoying the moment. It’s been a long career, and I’m really proud of what I’ve been a part of and accomplished. I’m also looking forward to a mental and physical rest.”
He also acknowledged the shifting dynamics within the Jets organization. “I think there’s going to be change here,” Rodgers remarked. “If I’m not a part of that change, I just want to express my gratitude for my time here.”
Regardless of what Rodgers decides, his legacy as a Packers legend is secure. Whether he continues his career and seeks a fresh start or steps away from the game, Rodgers’ accomplishments in the NFL will remain a testament to his talent and impact.
