Shocking Setback: Packers Star Undergoes Major Surgery just Before Playoffs

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander recently underwent knee surgery to address ongoing pain and swelling, according to multiple reports. The procedure, which took place on Tuesday, was performed to help Alexander recover from a torn PCL in his right knee sustained on Oct. 27. Since the injury, Alexander has managed to play just 10 snaps across one game.

ESPN reports that while Alexander won’t be available for the early rounds of the playoffs, a potential return for the Super Bowl could be on the table if the Packers make it that far.

The 27-year-old cornerback and two-time Pro Bowler has recorded 16 tackles, two interceptions, and seven passes defensed in seven starts this season. Over his career, Alexander has tallied 12 interceptions in 78 games (76 starts) since being drafted by Green Bay with the 18th overall pick in 2018.

The Packers, currently 11-5, wrap up their regular season at home against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. A win, combined with a Washington Commanders loss, would move Green Bay to the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoff picture.
