Rumors have circulated that rival NFL teams might try to trade for Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin following the team’s disappointing end to the 2024 season. However, Tomlin has made it clear he has no intention of entertaining such discussions.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, at least one team recently inquired about trading for Tomlin, but the Steelers showed no interest in making a deal. Additionally, Tomlin’s contract includes a no-trade clause, which prevents the Steelers from moving him without his consent.
On Tuesday, when asked by a reporter if he had a message for any teams considering a move to acquire him, the 52-year-old coach kept it succinct with a three-word response:
**“Save your time.”**
Tomlin, who has been the head coach in Pittsburgh since 2007, has established a reputation for consistency. He has never experienced a losing season and has led the Steelers to the playoffs in four of the past five years. However, the team has not won a playoff game in that span, leading to criticism from some fans and analysts.
This year, the Steelers’ playoff run ended with a 28-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round. The team trailed 21-0 at halftime, and the game was never close, prompting frustration among fans and a wave of memes targeting Tomlin online.
Despite the criticism, there is no indication the Steelers are looking to part ways with their long-time coach. Tomlin’s no-trade clause further solidifies his position, and his response makes it clear he has no interest in waiving it.
For now, it seems Tomlin is focused on continuing his tenure in Pittsburgh, while the Steelers look to regroup and address key roster issues ahead of the 2025 season.
