**Auburn Welcomes Running Back Omar Mabson II for 2025 Season**

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has officially announced that local standout running back Omar Mabson II will join the Auburn Tigers for the 2025 football season. Mabson, a product of Auburn High School, is the final addition to the team’s 2025 recruiting class after reclassifying in December.

Coach Freeze expressed enthusiasm about Mabson’s commitment, emphasizing both his talent and character.

We’re excited to finish out the 2025 signing class with the addition of Omar Mabson. He’s an incredible human being from an incredible family who fits our Auburn culture,Freeze said. He’s a local kid who knows the passion of this place and how special it’s been when we’ve had great running backs.

Standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 210 pounds, Mabson is known for his physicality, strength, and competitive mindset. According to Freeze, his dedication and work ethic are evident in his approach to training, making him a valuable addition to the team.

High School Career and Achievements
Mabson had a stellar high school career playing under Coach Keith Etheredge at Auburn High. During his junior season in 2024, he set a school record with 29 rushing touchdowns, accumulating 1,515 rushing yards. Over his high school career, he totaled 2,798 rushing yards, 46 rushing touchdowns, and also contributed in the passing game with 21 receptions for 332 yards and three touchdowns.

His impressive performance earned him first-team Class 7A all-state honors in 2024. The Opelika-Auburn News recognized him as the Offensive Player of the Year following his junior season, while he previously received second-team all-state honors as a sophomore.

Personal Background
Mabson is the son of Tonya and Omar Mabson. In addition to football, he has been an honor roll student and a multi-sport athlete, participating in baseball and basketball.

Looking Ahead
Auburn’s spring practice is set to begin on Tuesday, March 25, with the annual A-Day spring game scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Mabson is expected to bring depth to the Tigers’ running back room and compete for playing time in the upcoming season.
