‘That was the first reason’ – Mark Pope reveals reason for benching Kentucky star in win over Oklahoma

In a thrilling 83-82 victory over Oklahoma, Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope made the strategic decision to limit guard Jaxson Robinson’s playing time due to a lingering wrist injury. Robinson, an Oklahoma native, logged just 12 minutes in the first half, contributing seven points before being sidelined for the remainder of the game.

Pope explained post-game that Robinson’s wrist “didn’t respond great tonight,” leading to his benching. Despite his limited play, Robinson’s return to his home state allowed him to perform in front of family and friends, marking a special moment in his career. As the Wildcats approach the end of the regular season and prepare for March Madness, the team is hopeful that Robinson’s injury will not persist.
