BYU head coach Mark Pope is growing increasingly frustrated as injuries continue to take a toll on his team. Speaking to the media after a recent practice, Pope didn’t hold back his concerns, acknowledging that the growing list of sidelined players is making it difficult for the Cougars to compete at full strength.
“It feels like every time we take a step forward, something knocks us back,” Pope said. “We need some luck to get through this stretch. It’s tough to keep adjusting when key guys are missing.”
The Cougars have been hit hard in recent weeks, with multiple starters and key rotation players dealing with injuries. While Pope did not provide specific timelines for returns, he admitted that depth has become a major issue.
Despite the setbacks, BYU continues to fight through adversity. The team has relied on younger players and bench contributors to step up, but Pope knows the road ahead won’t be easy.
“We’re asking a lot from our guys right now, and they’ve responded well,” Pope added. “But we need to get healthy if we want to finish strong this season.”
With crucial games on the horizon, Pope and his squad will be hoping for better fortune as they navigate this challenging stretch of the season.
