Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope has officially confirmed that the program will part ways with fan-favorite playmaker Antonio Reeves after the conclusion of the season. The decision comes as the Wildcats look to reshape their roster for the future.
Reeves, who has been a key contributor with his scoring ability and leadership, has garnered immense support from the Big Blue Nation during his time in Lexington. However, with upcoming recruits and transfer portal adjustments, the coaching staff has decided to move in a different direction.
“Antonio has been an incredible asset to this team, and we’re grateful for everything he has given to the program,” Pope said in a statement. “This decision wasn’t easy, but we believe it’s the best step forward for both Antonio and the team.”
Reeves has yet to comment on his future, but sources indicate he could explore professional opportunities or transfer to another school for his final year of eligibility.
The Wildcats are currently focused on closing out the season strong, but Pope’s announcement signals significant changes ahead for Kentucky basketball.
