Federica Brignone, the celebrated Italian alpine skier and reigning overall World Cup champion, continues to radiate positivity even as uncertainty clouds her Olympic future. Despite a recent injury setback and speculation that she may not be fit in time for the next Winter Games, Brignone remains upbeat and focused on what she’s already accomplished.
Speaking to reporters after a training session in Livigno, Brignone acknowledged the emotional challenge of potentially missing the Olympics. “Of course it’s tough to think I might not be there. But I’ve had an incredible career, and nothing can take that away from me,” she said, smiling.
Brignone, 34, has been a dominant force in alpine skiing, boasting multiple World Cup titles and an Olympic bronze medal from PyeongChang 2018. However, a nagging knee injury sustained during the final stretch of the season has cast doubt on her ability to compete at full strength in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina — a home Games that would be particularly meaningful.
Despite the uncertainty, Brignone insists she’s taking things one step at a time. “Right now, my goal is recovery and staying strong mentally. The rest, we’ll see,” she said.
Her resilience and grace under pressure have earned admiration across the skiing world, with fans and fellow athletes applauding her unwavering spirit.
Whether or not she returns to Olympic competition, Brignone’s legacy in alpine skiing is already secure — and for now, she’s simply grateful to be on the mountain.
