Death Reported at Maine’s Largest Ski Resort

 

Maine news outlets are reporting on the death of a skier that took place at Sugarloaf, the state’s largest ski resort, on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

 

Details related to the incident are sparse, but a spokesperson confirmed with WMTW that the, “untimely death” of a guest took place around 9 a.m. on Saturday.

 

“Out of respect and privacy for the family we are unable to share any additional details but express our deepest sympathy to the family for their loss,” writes the Sugarloaf spokesperson.

 

The guest’s name, age, and cause of death have not been revealed at this time. POWDER will continue to update this story as more details are released.

 

The incident is at least the second ski-related death to take place on April 5, 2025 in the United States. Ellie Curtis, a 26-year-old former ski racing champion for Dartmouth College passed away at Palisades Tahoe, California on the same day.
