In a heartfelt interview that’s resonating across the sports world, alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin has opened up about the two individuals she credits most for her historic success. Shiffrin, widely regarded as the greatest skier of all time (GOAT), revealed that her late father, Jeff Shiffrin, and long-time coach Mike Day were instrumental in shaping both her personal and professional journey.
“My dad was my rock, my biggest supporter, and the one who taught me to love the process,” Shiffrin shared. “He kept me grounded and reminded me that skiing was about joy first, results second.”
Shiffrin also praised coach Mike Day, who guided her through some of the most pivotal moments of her career. “Mike believed in me when I doubted myself. He helped me push my limits and taught me how to manage the pressure of expectations.”
As Shiffrin continues to rewrite the record books, her tribute to these two foundational figures serves as a reminder that even the greatest athletes stand on the shoulders of those who lift them up.
