Kentucky Wildcats star guard Otega Oweh has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, marking a significant milestone in his basketball journey. In an emotional message shared via social media, Oweh thanked the Kentucky community for their unwavering support throughout his college career.
“From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt the love, the energy, and the passion of Big Blue Nation,” Oweh wrote. “You welcomed me with open arms and believed in me through every high and low. I’ll forever be grateful for the memories we made together.”
Oweh, who transferred to Kentucky after beginning his college career at Oklahoma, quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his athleticism, defensive grit, and leadership on and off the court. His breakout season helped propel the Wildcats to a strong finish in the SEC and a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
In his farewell message, Oweh also gave a nod to his teammates and coaching staff, praising them for shaping him both as a player and as a person. “Coach Cal and the entire staff pushed me every day to be better. To my brothers in the locker room — thank you for the battles, the laughs, and the bond we’ll share forever.”
With his eyes now set on the NBA, Oweh expressed excitement for what lies ahead while reaffirming his loyalty to the Kentucky family. “No matter where this journey takes me, I’ll always bleed blue. Kentucky will always be home.”
Oweh’s decision adds to the list of Wildcats entering the draft this year, as Kentucky continues its legacy of producing NBA-ready talent. Scouts have praised his versatility, work ethic, and potential to be a strong two-way player at the next level.
As Big Blue Nation bids farewell, one thing is clear — Otega Oweh’s impact on Kentucky basketball won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
