Teenager Suffers Coma After Skiing Accident

A 17-year-old teenager is in a coma following a serious skiing accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon at a popular ski resort in Aspen.

According to authorities, the incident took place around 2:30 PM when the teenager, identified as Alex Carter from Denver, lost control while navigating a steep slope. Witnesses say Carter appeared to hit an icy patch, causing him to veer off course and collide with a tree at high speed.

Ski patrol was quick to respond and administered emergency first aid at the scene before airlifting Carter to Aspen Valley Hospital. Doctors later confirmed that he had suffered severe head trauma and was placed in a medically induced coma to manage swelling in the brain.

“Our thoughts are with Alex and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” said hospital spokesperson Dr. Lauren Chen. “We are doing everything we can to stabilize his condition.”

The resort has launched an internal investigation into the incident. Authorities confirmed that Carter was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Friends and family have gathered at the hospital, while an outpouring of support has spread across social media. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with medical expenses and has already raised over $25,000 in less than 24 hours.
