39-Year-Old Skier Killed in Crash at Black Mountain Ski Area

A tragic skiing accident at Black Mountain Ski Area has claimed the life of a 39-year-old man, local authorities confirmed Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when the skier, whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification, reportedly lost control while descending one of the mountain’s intermediate trails. According to eyewitnesses, the man appeared to be skiing at a high speed when he veered off course and collided with a tree.

Ski patrol was alerted immediately and responded swiftly, performing first aid on site before transporting the victim down the mountain. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby medical facility.

“Our hearts go out to the skier’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said a spokesperson for Black Mountain. “Safety remains our top priority, and we are working closely with authorities to understand how this tragic event occurred.”

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and local police are conducting a joint investigation. Weather conditions at the time of the crash were clear, and the trail was open and in standard condition, officials said.

This marks the first fatality at the historic ski area this season. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
