A skier is in critical condition following a devastating accident on the slopes of Aspen Skier in Critical Condition After Suffering Terrible Skiing Accident on Monday afternoon.
According to officials from the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:30 PM when the skier, whose identity has not yet been released, lost control while navigating a steep section of the expert-level terrain. Witnesses reported seeing the individual collide with a tree after failing to make a sharp turn.
Ski patrol responded within minutes and administered emergency first aid before transporting the victim via helicopter to Aspen Valley Hospital. Medical staff confirmed that the skier suffered multiple traumatic injuries and remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including whether equipment failure or poor visibility played a role. The ski resort has temporarily closed the section of the mountain where the incident occurred.
“Our thoughts are with the injured skier and their family,” said a spokesperson for Aspen Skiing Company. “Safety is always our top priority, and we are cooperating fully with investigators.”
