
A woman is in critical condition following a serious skiing accident that occurred on Easter Sunday at Sunshine Village, a popular ski resort in Banff National Park.
According to resort officials, the incident took place in the early afternoon on April 20th. Ski patrol responded swiftly after receiving reports of a skier losing control on a steep run and colliding with a tree. The woman, whose identity has not been released, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.
“We can confirm that a female guest was involved in a serious skiing accident on Sunday,” said Sunshine Village spokesperson Tara Meyers. “Our ski patrol provided immediate on-site medical assistance before emergency crews arrived. Our thoughts are with her and her family during this difficult time.”
RCMP and resort safety officials are investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances. Conditions on the hill that day were reported to be fair, with moderate visibility and packed powder.
The resort has reminded visitors to adhere to all safety guidelines and ski within their ability levels, especially during busy holiday weekends.
