A tragic skiing accident at Aspen Snowmass Resort has left a skier hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident occurred late Monday afternoon when the skier reportedly lost control on a steep slope and collided with a tree.
Ski patrol responded immediately to the scene and provided critical first aid before transporting the individual to Aspen Valley Hospital. According to hospital officials, the skier is currently in stable but serious condition, with multiple fractures and internal injuries.
Witnesses described the accident as “horrifying,” noting that conditions on the mountain were challenging due to high winds and icy patches. “One moment he was skiing normally, and the next he veered off course,” said fellow skier Lucas Bennett, who saw the accident unfold.
Resort management has expressed their concern and emphasized the importance of safety on the slopes. “Our thoughts are with the injured skier and their family. We urge all guests to exercise extreme caution, especially given the recent weather conditions,” said Aspen Snowmass spokesperson Jenna Myers.
An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing. Resort officials are reviewing trail conditions and any possible contributing factors.
Further updates on the skier’s condition are expected in the coming days.
