After weeks of speculation surrounding Mark Pope’s next major move on the recruiting trail, sources close to the Kentucky program have confirmed that 5-star forward Jayden Carlisle is the Wildcats’ top target for the upcoming season.
Carlisle, a 6’9 versatile scorer out of California’s Sierra Canyon High School, has been on the radar of several blue-blood programs, but recent developments point to Kentucky as the frontrunner. The leak, which surfaced late Wednesday evening via an insider post on a major recruiting forum, named Carlisle as Pope’s “priority project”—a dynamic athlete believed to fit seamlessly into the new-look system Pope is building.
While the leak has sparked heated discussion among fans and analysts alike, Big Blue Nation isn’t rattled.
“Leaks or not, we trust Pope,” said longtime UK supporter Lyle Freeman. “He’s been transparent, passionate, and he knows how to build a roster. If Carlisle is his guy, then he’s our guy too.”
