Kentucky Wildcats Honor Late Team Captain Devin Carter with Multimillion-Dollar Monumental Statue Outside Stadium

In a heartfelt tribute to one of its most beloved players, the University of Kentucky has unveiled a monumental statue of late team captain Devin Carter outside Kroger Field. The statue, a multimillion-dollar project funded by alumni and fans, commemorates Carter’s leadership, dedication, and impact both on and off the field.

Devin Carter, who tragically passed away in 2023 following a car accident, served as team captain during the 2022 season and was widely regarded as a unifying force for the Wildcats. Known for his fierce competitiveness, compassionate spirit, and relentless work ethic, Carter left a legacy that continues to inspire current players and fans alike.

The statue, standing 12 feet tall and crafted from bronze, captures Carter in his iconic game-day pose—helmet in hand, eyes locked on the field. It was unveiled during a special ceremony attended by his family, teammates, coaches, and thousands of fans.

“This statue isn’t just for Devin,” said Head Coach Mark Stoops during the ceremony. “It’s for every young man and woman who dreams of making a difference. Devin showed us what it means to lead with heart.”

The project reportedly cost over $3.5 million and includes a memorial garden surrounding the statue, along with an interactive digital plaque that shares highlights of Carter’s life and career.

Fans are already calling the site a “new sacred ground” in Kentucky football history.
