BREAKING NEWS: ‘What a joke…’ Kentucky Wildcats Fans Not Happy at All After What NCAA Have Just Announced

Tensions are boiling in Big Blue Nation after the NCAA announced a controversial new regulation affecting the upcoming 2025-26 season — and Kentucky fans are not taking it lightly.

The new rule, which limits the number of non-conference games Power Five schools can schedule against mid-majors and HBCUs, is being slammed by Wildcats supporters as “elitist,” “tone-deaf,” and “a direct shot at basketball tradition.” Social media exploded within minutes of the announcement, with fans calling the decision a “cash grab” and “an insult to college hoops heritage.”

“What a joke,” one longtime fan tweeted. “The NCAA just keeps ruining the game. We love seeing our team battle underdogs and historic mid-major programs. This isn’t March without those storylines.”

Even Kentucky Head Coach Mark Pope expressed confusion in a post-practice interview. “We’ve built meaningful games and relationships with programs across all levels,” Pope said. “This rule limits creativity, hurts smaller schools financially, and honestly doesn’t help anyone in the long run.”

Insiders believe the NCAA’s aim is to push for stronger TV matchups and increase Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) strength, but critics argue it will only widen the gap between elite programs and struggling schools.

With Kentucky having already locked in preseason matchups with Murray State and Morehead State, it’s now unclear if those games will be allowed — and fans are already calling for the Wildcats to push back.

As the pressure mounts, Big Blue Nation is making one thing clear: they want the NCAA to reverse course, or face serious backlash.
