The Kentucky Wildcats have started to make early moves in their 2026 basketball recruiting efforts, and one of the latest prospects drawing attention from the coaching staff is Cam Williams. Williams is a highly regarded 5-star forward standing 6-foot-11 and weighing 200 pounds. He plays at St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, Arizona.
Kentucky’s interest in Williams has picked up recently, according to a report by On3’s Jamie Shaw, with head coach Mark Pope and his staff initiating contact. Williams first gained Kentucky’s attention during an Adidas 3SSB tournament held in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in May, as noted by Jacob Polacheck of KSR.
Since that breakout performance, Williams’ reputation and recruitment profile have been steadily rising. He currently plays for the Compton Magic on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, a well-known grassroots team that also includes elite 2027 recruit Bruce Branch. Coach Mark Pope and assistant coach Cody Fueger were both on hand Thursday to watch a high-profile game between Compton Magic and Jalen Green Elite, where both Williams and Branch were in action.
In an earlier interview with KSR+, Williams expressed his admiration for the Kentucky program. “I like how they’re known for putting players in the league,” he said, referring to the school’s strong track record of sending players to the NBA. “They’re obviously one of the best programs in the country. I like Coach Pope. He seems like a great coach.”
Although Kentucky has yet to formally offer Williams a scholarship, that could soon change. In the meantime, Williams is drawing interest from several other top-tier programs. He has already locked in official visits to Texas, Purdue, Duke, and USC for the upcoming fall, signaling a competitive recruitment process ahead.
While it’s still early in his recruitment, Kentucky’s growing involvement suggests they are serious about bringing Williams into the fold for their 2026 class.
