After victories for both the first team and academy, Liverpool had a weekend to remember. On Sunday, Jurgen Klopp’s team completed the task at hand at Anfield by defeating West Ham United 3-1 to move into second place in the Premier League standings.
There were additional outcomes involving other teams affiliated with the club that were worth celebrating as well. Indeed, both the under-18s and under-16s defeated Everton this past weekend, with the former winning convincingly 4-1 and the latter by scores of 2-1.
Trey Nyoni, the Reds’ summer acquisition from Leicester City, scored again for the under-18s. He did so after scoring on his debut last week against Blackburn Rovers and the 95th minute winner against the Blues. After defeating Wolves 2-0, the under-21s were also able to earn three points. The goals on this occasion came from Tom Hill and Paul Glatzel, moving Barry Lewtas’ team up to fifth in the Premier League 2 standings.
Glatzel, who has had difficulty with recurrent injury setbacks in recent seasons, is now on the scoring trail and added the assist for Hill’s opening goal for good measure. Throughout the 2023–24 season, as each team competes for trophies, Liverpool will be hoping that each of their teams can continue to experience success on all fronts.
