According to reports from Germany that claim Jurgen Klopp is keeping an eye on the young starlet from Bayern Munich, Jamal Musiala could be the player to take Thiago Alcantara’s place at Liverpool.
While playing for Munich’s first team for three full seasons, Musiala has excelled in Bavaria. He has even taken his talents to the international stage, playing for Germany at the Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the 20-year-old, who has less than three years left on his contract with the Bundesliga champions, according to Christian Falk of BILD. Musiala has previously admitted to being in awe of Thiago while working out with the Bayern Munich first team in 2019.
If the Reds are successful in their pursuit of the versatile midfielder, Musiala could end up being the heir apparent on Merseyside. This summer, Thiago’s contract expires. Musiala, a former youth product of Southampton and Chelsea, may not be the only new midfielder to join Anfield in the near future, as Fluminense’s Andre Trindade is once more being linked with a move to Merseyside in January 2024.
Due to their hopes of winning South America’s prestigious Copa Libertadores tournament, which they will play in the final of against Boca Juniors on November 4, Fluminense has been hesitant to part ways with the midfielder. In January, however, their position might shift. Andre and Musiala may join Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Stefan Bajcetic as potential additions to Liverpool’s engine room in time for the 2024–25 season.
With the Saudi Pro League expected to resume its pursuit of Mohamed Salah in the summer of 2024, Reds manager Klopp’s attack may also be in for significant changes. In September, a bid for the Egyptian from the Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad that was estimated to be worth $150 million was turned down. Leroy Sane, a former winger for Manchester City, has been connected to a transfer to Liverpool recently. In light of this, here is how Liverpool might line up in 2019–2020 if Musiala and Andre join and if Salah is sold and replaced by Sane. Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Andre, Szoboszlai, Musiala, Sane, Nunez, and Diaz make up Liverpool’s (4-3-3) defense.
