Report: Reid, Mahomes fined for comments on officials.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes were very upset after the controversial ending to the Week 14 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Less than a week later, they pay the price for letting their emotions get the best of them. X (formerly Twitter) According to a Saturday morning report from Pro Football Talk, Reid and Mahomes will be fined for “critical comments about the performance” last Sunday. This is just a guess, but PFT estimates the fines will be “more than $25,000 for Mahomes and $50,000 for Reed.” The exact amount of the fine was not known at the time of reporting.

Late in Week 14, Kansas City’s punt was called and wide receiver Kadarius Toney was penalized for an offensive offside violation. The decision to drop the flag and revoke the green wave did not sit well with the leaders and led to much discussion afterwards. Reid, who was one of the first to take the stage after the game, called it “an embarrassment” to the NFL. “It was a great football game all the way down,” Reed said. “I’m so sorry this happened. I never use that as an excuse, but I usually get a warning before something like this happens in a big game. “It’s kind of baffling that something like this is happening in the National Football League.”Reed’s successor, Mahomes, also took a very strong stance on this request.

“The call is right there,” Mahomes said. “It’s not for me and it’s not for me. I know how much effort everyone puts into this game and it’s the flag that changes the outcome of the game at that moment… I’ve been playing for 7 years and I’ve never been offside but in attack. It was my elementary school days. We talked about it, pointed at the referee and all that, but there was no call. Then they would issue a warning and there was no warning for the whole game. And then you can call a minute before the end of the game? It’s hard, bro. Don’t ask questions. “Win or lose, if it ends up being another game where the ref says something, that’s not what we want in the NFL or in football.”Reid and Mahomes walked back some of their comments this week, but the damage was already done.

The NFL didn’t like his choice of words Sunday and acted more than 24 hours before the Chiefs were scheduled to host the New England Patriots in Week 15. With Kansas City one of the best teams in the league and Mahomes in the national spotlight as one of the faces of football, the NFL has been keen to publicly remind that such criticisms are beyond the league’s scope. The good thing is that both parties can now move forward and make this a thing of the past.
