Bill Belichick to the Falcons would be an ironic twist of fate

No one will forget this score. That includes Bill Belichick.

But I don’t think there are any hard feelings left between owner Arthur Blank and former Patriots coach Bill Belichick. So are we going back down memory lane and watching Super Bowl LI again? When the first quarter ended, the score was still 0. But the Patriots turned things around just seconds later in the second quarter.

Atlanta recovered and found a way to the end zone to take the lead.On their next drive, the Patriots were forced to punt and the Falcons drove back down the field and into the end zone to take a 14-point lead. New England tried to turn things around, but Tom Brady was intercepted by Robert Alford for an 82-yard pick-6.

The Patriots had at least one field goal before halftime, but the Falcons came out and scored an early touchdown. This is where the 28-3 score comes into play.No one will forget how Blank entered the second half thinking the Falcons had sealed the win. Little did they know they were playing against the greatest coach and quarterback of all time.

The Patriots came back, forced overtime and eventually won Super Bowl LI after James White scored a 2-yard touchdown on the opening kickoff. The win will never be forgotten in New England, with images of Belichick and Brady hoisting the Lombardi Trophy vivid in everyone’s mind.

I’m sure he’s been hunting this hawk ever since. But I think Blank’s mentality is, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.”That makes Belichick the clear front-runner for Atlanta’s open head coaching job. Things appear to be moving in the right direction as Belichick held his second interview on Friday.Let’s wait and see what happens.
