Packers coach Matt LaFleur said he suffered the injury after his team was eliminated from the playoffs Saturday night in a loss to the 49ers.“It stings,” LaFleur said. “One of the reasons things are bad right now is that we believed and expected to win this game. Credit to San Francisco: They did more in tough situations later. This is a tough football team. But we felt that there were many chances to not get our hands on the game, but unfortunately it was not enough.
It’s never just a game. I’m sure most of the time it will come down to a missed field goal, but there are plenty of opportunities. In the first half, they had three chances in the red zone and scored six points. There are many pieces, but if the pieces were different, there could be a different outcome right now.LaFleur said he doesn’t know why kicker Anders Karlsson missed the ball, which has been a problem for the Packers this year.
“I don’t know. If I had the answer, I think it would have solved the problem,” LaFleur said. The Packers had a young team that exceeded expectations. Although it hurts now, LaFleur enters the offseason knowing his team is close to where he wants to be.
