The Green Bay Packers have embarked on a long journey into the 2024 season, and like them, PackersTalk won’t stop when the season ends. Last season far exceeded most expectations, but still felt like it ended much sooner than it should have. The Packers never stop working. We close the 2023 Packers chapter and turn the page to the next chapter. So let’s start with a loud voice. This is my bold prediction for the Packers 2024 offseason. Some of the bold predictions may not seem so bold, but with the Packers being very inactive in the early days of free agency, they could be pretty bold. Hear me out.Bold Prediction #5The Packers hired Jeff Hafley as their new defensive coordinator. Coach Hafley believes the Packers defense is similar to the San Francisco 49ers and has extensive experience coaching defensive backs, so he is expected to focus on the defensive backs. The Packers defense needs more playmakers.
The green and gold have All-Pro corners Jair Alexander and Carrington Valentine, who showed plenty of promise in their rookie seasons, but the cap space behind them looks empty. Yes, yes, I know Eric Stokes exists. But he suffered injuries and did not play up to the standards set in his rookie season. The safety position especially needs an influx of talent for the Packers, as they only have Anthony Johnson Jr., Zayn Anderson, Benny Sapp III, Tyler Coyle and Christian Young under contract through 2024.So my first bold guess is that the Packers will sign a safety in the first wave of free agency and then draft a new safety (or corner safety hybrid) early in the NFL draft. Do you know what I’m saying? Black colour. #4The fourth bold prediction is that the Packers will not only sign a safety early in free agency, but they will also sign a linebacker. This linebacker is more than a linebacker.
They will either be Mike linebackers or true middle linebackers. The Packers’ defensive scheme will likely change to something closer to a 4-3. Now, the Packers’ base defense will be nickel-and-dimed. So the shift actually becomes a 4-2-5 defense. I mean, that’s exactly what Brian Gutekunst said in his press release. However, if the Packers are out of the starting lineup, they could easily play a three-linebacker set. But even if you don’t think you really need a microphone line protector, you probably need some other network support. De’Vondre Campbell will likely be out for the season and a replacement will be needed. Now I hear you. “Don’t we have Quay Walker? Doesn’t he play for Mike Backer? He can play, but his athleticism makes him dominant as a weakside linebacker. Look for the Packers to upgrade the linebacker position in free agency.number 3Now that rocks. The Packers would certainly add depth to their offensive line cap space. This is not a bold assumption. No, the bold prediction is that the Packers will bring back David Bakhtiari. Why is this bold? David Bakhtiari is an All-Pro left tackle. Yes, he was hurt. But despite his injuries, he came out to see the boys. Why don’t the Packers bring him back? $40,018,311. Is this reason enough? That’s about 17% of the Packers total. By cutting costs before June 1, Green Bay will save about $21 million in cap space. So everyone seems to think Bakhtiari will be traded or cut (not due to injury). I’d say the Packers will find a way to keep Bakhtiari on this roster. I don’t know how, but it happens.
Bakhtiari wants to win a Super Bowl, and the championship game against the Green Bay Lions is just minutes away. I think Gutekunst and Bakhtiari define it.NO.2We talked about the running back position a few times last season. We’ll talk about that later. First, we know Aaron Jones will be back. Brian Gutekunst pointed this out. But the running back room still needs AJ Dillon to hit free agency. Yes, the Packers have Emmanuel Wilson, but he shouldn’t be considered a long-term answer. The bold prediction here is that the Packers will sign an experienced free agent. Then they drafted future running back Aaron Jones in the early rounds of the NFL draft.Medal of Honor for Bold PredictionsThat’s an excellent mention, until we get to the first bold assumption. I think the Packers will draft another receiver. Now, I don’t think this is too bold, but the Packers finally have depth at the wide receiver position. However, at the wide receiver position, it’s always a good idea to stock your locker. This young group will provide insurance as the team matures. Bold Prediction #1It is thickened. I mean, it’s pretty raw. My point is, once this article is published, it can be proven wrong. This bold prediction is very simple, and Packer doesn’t have to do anything to make it come true. What I mean is that they don’t have to do anything. The wildest guess is that the Packers won’t bring back the unrestricted free agent.
