Patriots reportedly tab Eliot Wolf as head of personnel department

The Patriots front office has a new top dog.NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that “Elliot Wolf will have personnel responsibilities while overseeing the 53-man roster and working closely with [head coach] Jerrod Mayo.

” After Bill Belichick served as the team’s de facto GM for several years, Rapoport noted that Wolf will team up with Alonzo Highsmith (senior personnel director), Matt Groh (player personnel director) and Patrick Stewart (senior consultant of staff). ).

As part of this restructuring of the office, Rapoport said Groh will primarily lead university research. ESPN’s Mike Reiss added that director of scouting Camren Williams and director of pro scouting Steve Cargill will also help lead New England’s personnel department.

Wolff, who spent 14 seasons in the Packers’ scouting department before serving as the Browns’ assistant general manager in 2018-19, has left his mark on New England’s offseason moves thus far. According to Reyes, Wolff interviewed with Mayo this winter, and Highsmith spent eight seasons with Wolff between the Packers and Browns before reuniting with him in Foxborough.With the addition of Highsmith, New England will get a familiar face back in another personnel role.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC, New England is bringing Bobby Brown back to an executive position after one season with the Houston Texans. Brown’s first stint in New England was from 2016 to 2023, including three seasons as the Patriots’ associate director of football administration.
