In a press conference today, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed ongoing questions regarding quarterback Deshaun Watson’s role as he recovers from a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined in recent weeks. Watson, who has been dealing with a rotator cuff strain, returned to limited practice last week, sparking speculation about his potential return to full action.
“We are focused on Deshaun’s long-term health and ensuring he’s ready to perform at the highest level,” Stefanski said. “We’ve been closely monitoring his progress and working with medical staff to make sure we’re doing what’s best for him and the team.”
Stefanski confirmed that Watson would not be rushed back until he is fully cleared, stating that backup quarterback PJ Walker will continue to lead the offense if Watson isn’t ready. “We’re fortunate to have depth at the QB position,” Stefanski added. “PJ has stepped in admirably, and our game plan will continue to evolve to put us in the best position each week.”
With the Browns currently in the mix for a playoff spot, Stefanski’s measured approach reflects the franchise’s long-term investment in Watson. However, fans and analysts are eager to see Watson return, hoping his presence can elevate the Browns’ offense as they push through a competitive AFC North division.
While he didn’t set a specific return date, Stefanski emphasized that Watson’s return would depend entirely on his medical progress.
