Steelers Veteran Reportedly Considering Retirement After Long Battle with Knee Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers veteran offensive lineman David DeCastro is reportedly contemplating retirement after struggling to recover from a persistent knee injury that has plagued him over the past two seasons. DeCastro, a six-time Pro Bowler and a staple on the Steelers’ offensive line for over a decade, has been sidelined for the majority of the current season, sparking concerns about his long-term health.

According to team sources, DeCastro has been weighing his options carefully, with retirement becoming a serious consideration due to the toll the injury has taken on his mobility and performance. “I’ve given everything I have to this game, but at some point, you have to listen to your body,” DeCastro said in a recent interview.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the reports, stating, “David has been a warrior for this team. Whatever decision he makes, we’ll fully support him, but we’re hopeful he can remain part of the Steelers family in some capacity.”

DeCastro’s potential departure would mark the end of an era for Pittsburgh’s offensive line, which has undergone significant changes in recent years. Fans and teammates alike have expressed their gratitude for his contributions, calling him “a true leader and professional.”
