Browns prepared for the worst as reports Reveal contract of $230 million superstar set to be terminated…

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly considering terminating the contract of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who signed a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million deal with the team in 2022. Watson’s tenure with the Browns has been marred by off-field controversies, injuries, and underwhelming on-field performance.

After serving an 11-game suspension in 2022 due to violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, Watson returned to the field but struggled to regain his Pro Bowl form. His performance in the 2023 and 2024 seasons was inconsistent, and he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in 2024.

Financially, releasing Watson poses significant challenges for the Browns. His contract includes substantial guaranteed money, and the team would face considerable salary cap implications if they choose to part ways with him before 2026.

The Browns’ front office is reportedly exploring all options, including potential contract restructuring or seeking a trade partner, though the latter seems unlikely given Watson’s recent performance and injury history. The situation remains fluid, and the team has not made any official announcements regarding Watson’s future in Cleveland.

As the Browns prepare for their upcoming games, the quarterback position remains a focal point of uncertainty. Backup quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson have seen playing time in Watson’s absence, but neither has firmly secured the starting role.
