The Cleveland Browns are nearing the end of the 2024 NFL season, with just three games remaining. They will face the Cincinnati Bengals on the road, return home to play the Miami Dolphins, and wrap up their season in Baltimore against the Ravens. While wins at this stage hold little significance for the team, these final matchups offer an important chance for the Browns’ coaching staff and front office to evaluate players for potential roles in 2025. Here are three players the Browns should focus on during these games:
Dorian Thompson-Robinson
Now in his second year with the team, Thompson-Robinson has two years left on his rookie contract. Although he showed flashes of potential last season, this year has been less promising. His lone appearance with meaningful snaps came after Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles, and his performance in that game—completing only 45% of his passes for 82 yards—raised questions about his development.
With uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position for next season, the Browns must decide if Thompson-Robinson has a future as a backup or if a complete quarterback overhaul is needed. Instead of relying on veteran Jameis Winston, who is known for both big plays and costly turnovers, the Browns should give Thompson-Robinson more opportunities to prove himself.
Pierre Strong Jr.
Star running back Nick Chubb’s season-ending foot injury has left the Browns evaluating their running back depth. While Jerome Ford has shown flashes of explosiveness, such as a recent game where he rushed for 84 yards (62 of which came on a single play), questions remain about his consistency.
This presents a chance for Pierre Strong Jr., who has primarily played on special teams, to show his value. In limited opportunities, Strong has demonstrated reliable hands, catching nine passes with just one drop. Giving him the lead role in the backfield for these remaining games could help determine if he fits into the Browns’ plans for next season, especially with a deep running back class available in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jamari Thrash
The Browns are expected to revamp their wide receiver room in the offseason. After acquiring Jerry Jeudy this past year, they may pursue another big-name player, such as Tee Higgins, or use a high draft pick on a standout like Luther Burden III. Additionally, Elijah Moore is likely to leave in free agency.
This makes it an ideal time to assess Jamari Thrash, an intriguing prospect with potential. While his college production was hindered by a broken hand, Thrash has the opportunity to showcase his skills in these final games. With major changes expected in the receiver corps, Thrash could prove he’s ready for a larger role in 2025.
