The Cleveland Browns are facing more challenges as their season nears its end, with head coach Kevin Stefanski confirming injuries to tight end David Njoku and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson ahead of their Week 17 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Njoku, who had a productive performance in Week 16 with 66 total yards and nearly a touchdown, is now dealing with a knee injury, adding to a previous hamstring issue. The Browns are expected to monitor his status closely, likely making him a gametime decision.
Meanwhile, Thompson-Robinson, who struggled in his first start of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals with two interceptions and no touchdowns, is now nursing a calf injury. This could limit his mobility, which had been one of his strengths.
The Browns, sitting at 3-12, face uncertainty at quarterback for Week 17. If Thompson-Robinson is unable to play, the team may have to turn to Bailey Zappe, who was the backup in Week 16, or possibly Jameis Winston, who is also dealing with injuries. With nothing to play for but draft positioning, starting Zappe could be an opportunity for the third-year quarterback to prove his value in the NFL.
The Browns will face tough opponents in their final two games, with matchups against the Dolphins and Ravens presenting significant challenges.
