He Makes the Team Look One Man Down’: Analyst Insists Lions Player Needs to Be Benched

In a scathing critique during a post-game analysis, NFL analyst Mark Reynolds didn’t hold back in calling out Detroit Lions offensive lineman Jonah Williams, claiming his recent performances are costing the team on the field.

Reynolds, speaking on NFL Sunday Breakdown stated, “He makes the team look one man down. His lack of awareness and consistency is evident on every play. The Lions are pushing for the playoffs, and they can’t afford to have a weak link like this in their lineup.”

The comments came after the Lions’ hard-fought 24-21 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Williams allowed multiple pressures and was flagged twice for holding penalties, stalling key offensive drives. Critics argue his performance has been a recurring issue throughout the season, with stats backing up the claims. Pro Football Focus rated Williams among the bottom 10 offensive linemen in pass protection this year.

Fans have taken to social media to voice similar frustrations, with some suggesting the Lions explore backup options or make a mid-season trade. However, head coach Dan Campbell defended Williams in his post-game press conference, emphasizing that the entire team needs to play better.

“Jonah’s had his struggles, but we win and lose as a team. We’ll evaluate everything moving forward, but I believe in my guys,” Campbell said.

As the Lions sit at 9-6 with playoff hopes hanging in the balance, the pressure is on Williams and the entire team to step up in their next must-win game against the Packers.
