Cleveland Browns guard Joel Bitonio has been a cornerstone of the team’s offensive line since being drafted in 2014. Now in his 11th NFL season, the 33-year-old six-time Pro Bowler faces growing speculation about whether he will return for a 12th year or retire.
Bitonio, who has consistently expressed his loyalty to the Browns, confirmed that he doesn’t envision playing for another team. However, he remains undecided about his future and plans to make his decision after the season concludes.
“It’s hard to make a decision when you’re in the thick of it, going through the daily grind,” Bitonio said. “I’m going to finish the year as strong as I can and go from there.”
As the Browns prepare to host the Miami Dolphins this Sunday, it could mark the final home game of Bitonio’s career.
Drafted in the second round in 2014, Bitonio has been a model of consistency, missing significant time in only one season. This year, he’s played in 15 games, recovered two fumbles, and remains the only player from Cleveland’s original starting lineup to play every game despite the team’s injury struggles.
Bitonio’s Pro Bowl streak, which began in 2018, may continue after another strong campaign. However, with the Browns set to close their regular season against the Baltimore Ravens next week, Bitonio’s focus remains on finishing the season before deciding on the next chapter of his career.
