Packers to Cut Ties with Jordan Love After Miserable Season

In a decision that signals a major shift for the Green Bay Packers, the team is reportedly preparing to move on from quarterback Jordan Love following a disappointing 2024 season. Despite being groomed as Aaron Rodgers’ successor, Love struggled to solidify his place as the Packers’ long-term answer at quarterback.

Love, who was drafted in the first round in 2020, started all 17 games this season but failed to meet expectations, throwing for just 18 touchdowns against 15 interceptions while completing only 58% of his passes. The Packers finished with a 5-12 record, marking one of the worst seasons in recent franchise history.

“Jordan is a great person and a hard worker, but we have to make tough decisions for the future of this team,” said head coach Matt LaFleur during a press conference. “We feel it’s in everyone’s best interest to explore new opportunities at the quarterback position.”

The Packers are expected to pursue a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, with several highly touted prospects available. The team may also explore veteran options in free agency.

Love, meanwhile, will likely draw interest from other teams looking for a young quarterback with untapped potential. Despite his struggles in Green Bay, many believe he still has the tools to succeed in the right situation.

This move marks the end of an era for the Packers, as they officially close the chapter on their post-Rodgers transition and look to rebuild for the future.
