Mass Exit: 24 Steelers Set to Leave Pittsburgh in 2025

Following the Steelers’ disappointing playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens, attention now turns to the offseason. A total of 24 Steelers players are poised to become free agents, presenting significant challenges as the team looks to reshape its roster.

Quarterback
All three quarterbacks on the Steelers’ roster—Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Kyle Allen—are entering free agency after completing their contracts in 2024. While both Wilson and Fields have expressed interest in returning, their inconsistent performances leave Pittsburgh in the same uncertain position they faced a year ago.

Running Back
Najee Harris, who is set to become a free agent, gave no indication of his plans for the future. After the Steelers declined his fifth-year option earlier in the year, it appears unlikely he will return. Backup running back Jaylen Warren, a restricted free agent, is expected to be re-signed due to his efficiency, but the financial terms remain a question.

*Wide Receiver
With an already underperforming receiving corps, the Steelers face potential departures of multiple players. Mike Williams, Van Jefferson, Ben Skowronek, and Scotty Miller are all set to hit free agency, leaving the team with significant gaps to address at the position.

Tight End
Veteran tight end MyCole Pruitt is the lone free agent from the group. He saw limited usage in 2024 and is unlikely to return, given his age and role in the offense.

Offensive Line
The Steelers are bracing for changes along the offensive line. Left tackle Dan Moore Jr., who suffered an ankle injury in the playoff loss, is not expected to return, as the team looks to rely on younger talent like Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones. Right guard James Daniels, who missed most of the season due to an Achilles injury, is also likely to depart.

Other offensive linemen facing free agency include Nate Herbig, Max Scharping, and Calvin Anderson. Backup center Ryan McCollum is an exclusive rights free agent.

Defensive Line
Defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk is set to become an unrestricted free agent after proving himself as a reliable depth player. Special teams contributor and edge rusher Jeremiah Moon is also an exclusive rights free agent.

Linebacker
Inside linebacker Elandon Roberts, who has become a key leader on the defense, has expressed a desire to return to the Steelers and could be re-signed. Meanwhile, special teams ace Tyler Matakevich is also entering free agency.

Defensive Backs
Cornerback Donte Jackson, who was signed as a short-term solution, struggled with injuries in 2024, making his return uncertain. Other pending free agents in the secondary include safety Damontae Kazee, slot cornerback Cam Sutton, backup corner James Pierre, and injured reserve cornerback C.J. Henderson.
