The 21-year-old shooting guard achieved this remarkable feat during a thrilling home game against the Florida Gators, where he surpassed the previous record of 2,789 points set by Wildcats legend Dan Issel.
As Matthews sank a deep three-pointer in the final minutes of the second half, Rupp Arena erupted in celebration, with fans, teammates, and coaches showering him with applause.
