Historic Night! Kentucky Star Shatters 20-Year Record in Stunning Performance

Despite the No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats suffering a 98-84 defeat against No. 25 Ole Miss on Tuesday night, there was a historic achievement that provided a silver lining for the team.

Graduate center Amari Williams made history by becoming the first seven-footer in Division I men’s college basketball in two decades to record a triple-double. According to Kentucky’s statistician Corey Price, no player of Williams’s height had accomplished this feat in the last 20 years.

During the game at The Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi, Williams showcased his all-around abilities, finishing with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in just 26 minutes of action. His performance not only highlighted his versatility but also cemented his place in college basketball history, despite Kentucky’s loss to the Rebels.

The Wildcats struggled defensively against a strong Ole Miss offense but can take pride in Williams’s milestone achievement, which underscores his value as a key contributor for Kentucky this season.
