Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope has identified defensive struggles as a primary factor contributing to the team’s recent challenges. Following consecutive losses, including a 98-84 defeat to Ole Miss, Pope expressed frustration with the team’s defensive performance, noting, “For us, the biggest frustration we’re feeling right now is on the defensive end and I’m doing a poor job of finding answers for that right now.”
The Wildcats have faced issues with physicality, rebounding, and turnovers. In a loss to Georgia, they were outrebounded 41-34, leading Pope to emphasize the need for improved physicality and better rebounding strategies.
Despite these setbacks, Pope remains optimistic about the team’s potential. He believes that by addressing these defensive and physicality issues, the Wildcats can turn their season around and achieve “great things.”
