Recruiting War! Auburn and Miami Locked in Fierce Fight for Star Defender! Coach Reacts

The Auburn Tigers have already wrapped up their 2025 recruiting class, but they remain in contention for one of the few remaining uncommitted prospects from this cycle.

On Thursday, four-star cornerback J’Vari Flowers from Miami (Fla.) Northwestern revealed his final six schools ahead of his upcoming commitment decision in March. Flowers, who recently moved up from the 2026 recruiting class to 2025, included Auburn, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Miami, and Syracuse among his top choices.

His commitment is expected to take place toward the end of March, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

Flowers is widely regarded as a four-star recruit, with his highest ranking coming from Rivals, which places him as the No. 73 overall player in the 2025 class, the No. 5 cornerback prospect, and the No. 12 recruit in Florida.

### Miami Leads the Race, But Auburn Remains in the Mix

At this stage in the recruiting process, Miami is seen as the frontrunner to land Flowers, with On3 projecting the Hurricanes as having an 80.7% chance of securing his commitment. However, Auburn and the other programs on his shortlist will have the opportunity to make their final impressions before he reaches a decision.

Flowers has also mapped out his visit schedule for March, which includes a stop at Auburn on March 6. He will begin his visits at North Carolina on March 3, followed by Florida on March 10, Georgia on March 17, Syracuse on March 21, and Miami on March 24.

### Auburn’s Strong Defensive Back Class

Despite stiff competition for Flowers, Auburn has already assembled an impressive 2025 recruiting class, ranking as a consensus top-10 group nationally. ESPN gives the Tigers their highest ranking at No. 6.

In the secondary, Auburn has secured commitments from five highly regarded defensive backs: four-star safeties Anquon Fegans and Eric Winters, four-star cornerbacks Blake Woodby and Donovan Starr, and three-star cornerback Devin Williams. Additionally, Auburn has strengthened its secondary through the transfer portal, adding cornerback Raion Strader and safety Taye Seymore.

While Miami is the favorite to land Flowers, Auburn’s upcoming visit and strong recruiting history could play a role in his final decision.
